Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is considered the gold standard in the treatment of telangiectasias and small varicose veins. The method consists in injecting a chemical agent into the lumen of the vessel; its aim is to damage the vein wall, induce a controlled inflammation, and consequently fibrosis and atresia of the vessel.
Sklerotapy
Sclerotherapy is a procedure involving the introduction of a sclerosing preparation into the affected blood vessels. The preparation causes the effect of shrinking their walls. This leads to the development of an inflammatory process, which results in fibrosis of the vessel walls and their permanent fusion in the appropriate width. Sclerotherapy enables the treatment of large and small varicose veins. What's more, it also works well in the treatment of insufficiency of large veins of the superficial system. During the procedure, the vessel is punctured with a needle through which the drug enters it - the substance causes irritation and shrinkage of the vessel walls. As a result, the inflammatory reaction causes the lumen of the vein to be closed and overgrown. During sclerotherapy, varicose veins decrease or disappear completely - however, this is not a guaranteed effect, because the effectiveness of the treatment depends on the patient's health condition and the associated stage of the disease. Sometimes, after the procedure, the vessels are still patent, which means that the procedure must be repeated - sclerotherapy in some cases is performed several times. Usually, treatment using this method does not last more than one session. The number of treatments depends on the condition of the changes and what effect the patient wants to achieve. During one session, the patient cannot receive too high a dose of the drug, which is especially important when varicose veins are extensive - that is why the number of treatment sessions is always determined individually.
